At adHOME, we like to get to know you and your consumer so we can tailor the campaigns we build to suit your needs. We think maybe you’d like to get to know us as well.
Today we had a chat with Javier, to provide insight into the life of a digital marketer. Before coming to adHOME, Javier worked at Ecuador’s division of Grey, a global advertising group that had a much larger digital team. But Javier speaks with confidence and passion about his job at adHOME. As an important part of the digital marketing team, this kind of attitude is fit for the Digital Marketing Manager.
“We’ve had a whole bunch of new clients over the last year,” says Javier. Quickly acclimatizing to such an influx of clients and then coming up with a digital campaign is part of Javier’s job. He must also sift through and understand the complexities of what clients need for their online platforms. “[That] was really one of the best things, not only myself, but Katie and I as a team, accomplished for our digital department.”
When we asked him what his average day is like, Javier said, “That’s probably my favourite part of the job, because there’s not an average day.” He has the opportunity to do a variety of different things in a day. Because adHOME works on many different projects, with many different people and companies, there are always new opportunities. “No average day in an advertising agency for sure.”
The digital marketing he works on infiltrates his home life as well. He knows it’s just as important to stay connected to the internet’s breadth of information as it is to keep in touch with friends. When he’s not busy working, he’s looking up information on digital marketing, or maybe on the Cannes Lions website, an advertising festival that awards the top campaigns in the world. “I keep telling myself that I need to stop using my phone so much,” he says.
But Javier’s aspirations are in the creative realm, and all his online reading is about to come in handy. In elementary school, grammar was his favourite subject and as he got older and moved into high school, he began to love literature and poetry. Javier plans to continue working on those passions on top of digital marketing and eventually return to school and learn to write in English as well as he does in Spanish. “I would love to publish a book at some point in my life,” he says.
