Recently, the adHOME team got out of the office to take part in an afternoon time travel adventure. Ok, we really just hopped in the car and went for a road trip, but when we stepped inside the doors of the newly opened Sifton West 5 Discovery Centre, it certainly felt like the future.
This year, adHOME had the opportunity to assist Sifton Properties in developing an interactive visitor centre for their newest community – West 5. This isn’t just any master community. West 5 is setting new standards as Ontario’s most sustainable and energy efficient community, and their Discovery Centre is no exception. Completely Net Zero, the Discovery Centre runs entirely on solar energy and is a testament to Sifton’s commitment to sustainable living by being 100%
energy efficient.
Our approach to developing the Discovery Centre experience was to really immerse visitors in the community allowing them to connect with the vision, goals and West 5 brand. Recognizing that most of the West 5 community would still be under development, we needed a way to bring to life the sustainable lifestyle and cutting-edge technology in a tactile and engaging way.
We wanted the space to feel inviting, while at the same time offering guests the opportunity to experience the “science” behind West 5. After months of discussions, planning and execution, we were thrilled to witness the West 5 Discovery Centre come to life. From the moment you step inside the doors, you’ll realize that this is When you step inside the doors you’ll find:
• A virtual reality experience that transports you to the tranquility of nearby Kains Woods where you can interact with the natural environment.
• Interactive touch pads that invite you to browse full scale community maps and learn more about the unique features of West 5.
• A customizable learning experience, The Sustainability Wall, that lets you learn more about how the community is reducing environmental impact.
• An interactive video floor pad that encourages kids to learn about technology and nature through interactive games.
Working with Sifton to see this futuristic vision become a reality has been extremely rewarding and we are so proud to have been part of this groundbreaking project. We look forward to watching it grow and flourish in the years to come.
