Spirit of York Steps Up To Help Community

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important now than ever for us to work together to help keep our communities safe.

Hand sanitizer–one of the key players in helping stop the spread of the virus–has become a scarce commodity throughout the Greater Toronto Area. So, to help combat this shortage and support their community, Spirit of York Distillery Co. has pivoted and dedicated its distillery to the production of hand sanitizer that meets both the World Health Organization (WHO) and Health Canada’s standards.

On March 17, Spirit of York announced that their new hand sanitizer would be available on March 19th for $3 a bottle (limit of 1 per customer). This hand sanitizer is provided free to anyone over the age of 65, and also free to those unable to afford to purchase it. In addition, the distillery also decided to supply retirement living facilities and hospitals with the product on an ongoing basis to help protect those most vulnerable.

Spirit of York went one step further, declaring that all proceeds from this initiative are being donated to local food banks in the GTA area through the non-profit organization Feed Ontario. So far, Spirit of York has been successful in raising over $50,000 for their community initiative with help from a number of local corporations including Canadian grocer Loblaws. At adHOME, we’re proud to have such resourceful and community-minded clients who always find ways to give back. That’s why we’re happy to partner with Spirit of York and offer our time and services pro bono to help them further their outreach.

Since the launch of this initiative, Spirit of York has been selling about 1,000 bottles a day and they have been approached by a number of large corporations who are also looking to stock up. In order to fill these orders and to help even more people throughout Ontario stay healthy, these bottles have to be properly labelled.

That’s why adHOME has donated our time to design and create bilingual Spirit of York branded labels capturing product specifics based on certified Health Canada products.
